Nepal's Bikash Thapa claimed Nepal's first silver medal in the 12th South Asian Games at the Bhogeshwari Phukanani Indoor Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday.

Thapa claimed the medal in the men's 63kg for his second medal of the career. Thapa lifted 112 in snatch and 130 in clean and jerk for a total lift of 242 kg.

Thapa's silver came after Devi Kumari Chaudhary gave Nepal their first medal – a bronze — in the women's 53kg weight category. The 31-year old Chaudhary snatched 54kg and lifted 75kg in clean and jerk for a total of 129 kg.

Saroj Yadav also claimed a bronze in the men's 65kg wrestling earlier in the day.
