Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party’s candidate joins Nepali Communist Party
Switch follows party’s decision to withdraw his candidacy and back CPN-UML nominees in Dang under a provincial seat-sharing deal.Durga Lal KC
Pratik Adhikari, a House of Representatives candidate from Dang constituency 2 representing the Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party, has joined the Nepali Communist Party.
Adhikari announced his decision at a press conference in Ghorahi on Wednesday morning.
On Tuesday, the Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party had deactivated his candidacy and decided to support CPN-UML candidate Shankar Pokhrel. Following the move, Adhikari entered the Nepali Communist Party.
He was welcomed by the party’s Dang-2 candidate Nirmal Acharya and proportional representation candidate Bhim Kumari Budha.
Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party’s district coordinator Ghana Shyam Dangi said the party withdrew its direct candidates in all three constituencies of Dang in line with an agreement with the CPN-UML to support each other in select districts of Karnali and Lumbini provinces.
He said the party has decided to vote for UML candidates across Dang.
