One person was killed in a tiger attack in Banke’s Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality on Saturday afternoon.
The victim, 62-year-old Marichman Bhandari of Sauri in ward 1, was attacked while grazing cattle in a nearby forest.
Eyewitness Pimalal Dangi said the tiger attacked and dragged Bhandari away despite their screams. He said the tiger also tried to attack others, forcing them to flee to save their lives.
After the incident came to light, a joint team comprising personnel from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Banke National Park staff, local representatives and residents reached the forest area to manage the situation.
