A massive fire broke out at Sangrila Ply Industry in Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan City-9 at Sunday midnight due to an electrical short circuit and has yet to be brought under control.

The fire has destroyed plywood, raw materials, machinery, and other equipment at one of the district’s largest industries.

Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army, and locals are working to control the blaze.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Chakra Bahadur Shah, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Dang, five fire engines from Dang and one from Shivaraj Municipality in Kapilvastu have been deployed, while additional fire engines from Banke and Bardiya are on the way.

The fire is estimated to have caused losses worth millions, though the exact details are yet to be confirmed, Shah said.
