A clash broke out at Shubha Prabhat Secondary School in ward 14 of Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan City over the formation of the school management committee. Principal Rudra Budha was reportedly assaulted during the incident.
The clash ensued after a meeting on Wednesday, the third attempt to form the committee. Principal Budha said the assault happened when the required quorum was not met, halting the meeting. The first two meetings were short of the necessary quorum of 186 as only 128 and 48 parents attended the meetings. Also, on Wednesday, only 123 parents turned up.
“When I floated the proposal to hold a fourth meeting due to lack of quorum, I was pressured to form the committee immediately, and I was attacked,” he said.
Budha also accused Ward Chairperson Bhansi Budha and his associates of being involved in the assault. However, the ward chairperson denied any involvement, clarifying that he had merely invited people to the meeting and was not responsible for the disorder or violence.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Chakra Bahadur Shah, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Dang, said that a dispute during the meeting led to a clash but noted that no formal complaint had been filed.
Two cadres affiliated with a fringe communist party, the CPN (Bahumat), were injured in the incident but have since been discharged after treatment. DSP Shah said the principal was unharmed, and investigations are ongoing.
