Muktalal Pun, a poacher who was absconding after being convicted of killing a rhinoceros in the Chitwan National Park, was arrested after 20 years.
According to a press release issued by Abhinas Thapa Magar, conservation officer of the park, on Wednesday evening, Pun was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 100,000 after being found guilty of killing a rhino on February 4, 2004.
He was arrested from Simaltandi in Rapti Municipality of the district on Tuesday. Pun was sent to Bharatpur Prison on Wednesday to serve his sentence, said Magar.
Similarly, the park officials arrested two other men—one on Saturday on charge of killing a rhino a year ago and the other on Wednesday evening on charge of killing a rhino in 2006.
