The CPN-UML has announced quitting the Bagmati provincial government.
Speaking at a provincial assembly meeting on Friday, UML provincial assembly leader Jagannath Thapaliya announced leaving the government and playing the role of strong opposition.
Thapaliya said the party would vote against the trust motion by Bagmati Chief Minister Shalikram Jammakattel.
Chief Minister Jammakattel is undergoing a floor test at the provincial assembly today.
UML ministers will hand over their resignations to the chief minister following the conclusion of the meeting.
The party has four ministers in the government. Provincial assembly leader Thapaliya is the minister for economic affairs and planning; Ek Lal Shrestha the minster for labour, employment and transport; Keshav Prasad Pokharel the minister for agriculture and livestock and Rameshwar Shrestha the health minister.
A new power equation has developed in the province following a new alliance in the centre.
A total of three ministers of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party in the Bagmati government had resigned on February 25 after the CPN (Maoist Centre) ditched the then coalition to form a new alliance with the Nepali Congress ahead of the Presidential election.
