Work at the Area Administration Office in Khotanga Bazar has stalled for the past three days after the tenure of the office’s chief, Mohan Bahadur Rai, ended on January 5.
According to Santa Bahadur Sunar, the chief district officer, services including issuing citizenship, Dalit verification, and the distribution of various types of identity cards have stopped in the absence of an office chief.
Service seekers of 21 wards of Khotehang, Jantedhunga, and Barahapokhari rural municipalities have been affected by the disruption in work.
For two days, Sunar himself had gone to the office and provided the services. The district administration office has already written to the Ministry of Home Affairs requesting a prompt appointment of a new office chief, said Sunar.
