Congress entrusts Deuba with the task of candidate selection for upcoming polls

The Nepali Congress has entrusted party president Sher Bahadur Deuba with the task of deciding on ticket distribution for candidates for the November 20 general and provincial elections.
A meeting of the party central work execution committee on Saturday took the decision as per the party charter, according to a statement issued by the party.
The responsibility of party registration has been given to Chief Secretary of the party office, Krishna Prasad Poudel, according to the decision.
The Congress Saturday meeting also instructed its party committees to recommend the names of aspirants for the upcoming polls.
As per the party charter, after recommendations from local party committees, a final decision on ticket distribution will be taken, said the Nepali Congress.
From November 20 general elections, 165 members under the direct election system and 110 under the proportional representation system will be elected for the House of Representatives. Similarly, 330 members under the direct system and 220 under the proportional representation system will be elected for seven provincial assemblies.
The party will also conduct nationwide campaigns for elections from August 26 to September 9, the party said.
