Anti-graft body detains JSP leader in Kathmandu over alleged embezzlement of development funds.
Post Report
Saroj Kumar Singh, a sitting lawmaker of Madhesh Province, was arrested on Wednesday from Anamnagar, Kathmandu, on charges of corruption linked to the misuse of provincial development funds.
According to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Singh, a member of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), was taken into custody for allegedly embezzling funds allocated under the Provincial Lawmaker Development Fund.
He is accused of funnelling money through consumer committees and engaging in financial irregularities.
The arrest follows an ongoing investigation by the anti-corruption body, which recently also detained Singh’s personal secretary in connection with the same case.
Singh’s arrest marks the latest in a series of actions against provincial officials suspected of misappropriating public funds. CIAA officials said further inquiries are underway and additional arrests have not been ruled out.
