Seven die in landslides in Bajhang and Jajarkot

Seven people, including four from a family in Bajhang and three from another family in Jajarkot, lost their lives in separate landslides in the past 24 hours.
In Bajhang, a landslide buried a house in Bungal municipality-10 on Sunday night, killing four members of a family. The deceased were identified as Kali Dhami, 50, her daughter-in-law Golki Dhami, 28, and Golki’s two daughters, Ashika Dhami, 6, and Laxmi Dhami, 3. The house belonged to Bira Dhami.
According to Bir Singh Thagunna, a sub-inspector of the area police office, Bungal, the bodies were found buried inside the house. Bira and five other family members managed to escape and are safe.
In Jajarkot, a landslide buried a temporary shelter in Majhagaun of Nalgad municipality-2 in the early morning on Monday, killing three members of another family.
The victims were identified as Lal Bahadur Pariyar, 42, his wife Manisha Pariyar, 34, and their two-year-old son. According to Purna Bahadur Khatri, the ward chairman, the Pariyar family had been living in a temporary shelter after their house collapsed in the earthquake last year. “The landslide from above the area destroyed their temporary shelter,” Khatri said.
