Nepal, South Korea sign MoU on cooperation in agricultural sector

Nepal and South Korea on Thursday signed a bilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The MoU was signed and exchanged by Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Beduram Bhusal and South Korean Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Chung Hwang-keun.
In a statement, the agriculture ministry said the memorandum of understanding is aimed at advancing cooperation between the two countries in the fields of agricultural science and technology, agriculture and livestock production and agricultural processing and production.
With the implementation of the MoU, cooperation between the two countries is possible in agriculture and livestock sector studies, research and development, infrastructure development and capacity building, the ministry said.
Nepal Agricultural Research Council and Korea Agricultural Research Council can now advance research activities in the agricultural sector and cooperation in the development of agricultural infrastructures, construction of training centres, and development of agricultural markets can be achieved, reads the statement.
Earlier during a bilateral meeting, Minister Bhusal expressed his belief that the relationship between Nepal and South Korea is based on harmony, friendship and cooperation and that the relationship will be further strengthened in the future.
Korean Minister Chung said his government is committed to sharing its experience and further cooperation and cooperation in the agricultural sector.
