Complaint demands annulment of Rabi Lamichhane’s candidacy

A complaint seeking to annul the candidacy of Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhanne has been filed at the district election office in Chitwan.
Lamichhane is the party’s candidate for House of Representatives for Chitwan Constituency-2.
According to Guru Prasad Wagle, deputy attorney at the commission, a complaint by one Raj Kumar Pandey has been registered at the election office, seeking to disqualify Lamichhane’s nomination as a candidate in next week’s elections.
Pandey, in his complaint, has said Lamichhane did not relinquish his Nepali citizenship even after receiving the citizenship certificate of another country.
In line with the standard procedure, the commission has notified its office in Chitwan Constituency-2 regarding the complaint against Lamichhane, informed Wagle.
Wagle said further action into the complaint will be taken after the local election officer receives a clarification from Lamichhane.
