Two leaders of main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) on Friday held a meeting with Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
Leader Adityanath met NC central members and lawmakers Devendra Raj Kandel and Binod Chaudhary at Gorakhpur-based ashram.
During the meeting, they discussed Adityanath’s participation at Bibahapanchami Mahotsav to be organised at the Ramjanaki Temple in Janakpur and mutual interests and strengthening bilateral relations between Nepal and India, lawmaker Kandel said.
Adityanath, who is loyal to Indian Prime Minister NarendraModi, is said to have close relationship with leader Kandel.
Another lawmaker Chaudhary invited Adityanath to attend a worship programme at Saswatdham in Nawalparasi, Kandel further said.In response, Adityanath said that he would visit Saswatdham during appropriate time.
At a time when NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi has been expressing dissatisfaction over Adityanath’s plan to inaugurate Janakpur-Jayanagar-Kurtha broad-gauge railway line in Janakpur, the meeting of two leaders of the same party with Adityanath has been seen as meaningful.
“We talked about mutual interests and strengthening bilateral relations between Nepal and India and Saswatdham,” leader Kandel said. He claimed the meeting was not scheduled.
