Normal life in and around Katahari Village of Biratnagar has been gradually limping back to normalcy, two weeks after the colossal floods battered the settlements.
“We were facing difficulties to come out of our houses due to inundation a few weeks ago. Now, we are feeling relieved as the flood waters have been drying gradually,” said a local.
As the situation is changing steadily, children have started going to schools and the locals are again busy in their daily activities.
“The village had turned into an island when the floods submerged the entire village,” a local woman said.
Paddy fields have turned into river banks and most the houses and roads have been damaged due to water-induced disaster.
Most of the locals have been trying to move on and get over the problems they faced a few weeks ago.
The village witnessed a heavy loss that even the government or donor agencies could not cover it in a short span of time.
As the biggest festival Dashain is around the corner, local non-governmental organisations are trying to help the locals to overcome their problems.
