Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Ramesh Pandey has been elected as mayor of Madhya Nepal Municipality, Lamjung. He is the first candidate to be elected as mayor in the district with eight local units—four municipalities and four village councils.

He defeated his rival candidate of CPN (Maoist Centre), Mohan Hari Poudel, by a margin of 1421 votes. Pandey, who is also the chairman of NC youth wing Tarun Dal, secured 5968 votes, while Poudel pollsed 4547 votes.

But CPN-UML candidate Raj Kumar Shrestha has been elected as deputy mayor of Madhya Nepal Municipality. His candidacy was supported by Maoist Centre. He defeated his rival candidate from NC, Sita Shahi, by a margin of 234 votes. Shrestha garnered 5566 votes, while NC’s Shahi  secured 5332 votes.
