Speaking at the Legisltaure-Parliament on Tuesday, lawmaker Deuba argued that it would not be possible to find Dalit woman candidate in each ward. She put forth a strange demand of the House speaker’s ruling for amending the Local Level Election Act 2073.
According to the constitutional provision, the government has the right to present the bill for amending any acts. Arguing that it would not be possible to Dalit woman in each ward, Deuba claimed that the existing provision in Local Level Act (17, 5, 1) would affected the women’s candidacy.
The Act has the provision to pick woman from any other castes if any Dalit woman fails to file candidacy from Dalit quota for one seat of ward representative.
