Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, Deuba said the erstwhile government had decided to construct the project under the built, operate and transfer (BOT) Act
and called for international bidding.
“At a time when it is uncertain whether there will be an agreement with the selected firm, with a case pending at the Supreme Court,” Deuba said the statement, “my concern is a negative message should not be spread to the investors.”
At a Parliament session on Tuesday, Deuba opposed the government decision to build Kathmandu-Nijgadh fast track using the national resources. Describing the proposal illogical, he had demanded that international expertise be used.
“It is illogical to announce to build the project on our own while erstwhile government has already granted tender to an Indian Company for its construction,” Deuba said.
He argued that it would take years for these construction to complete if the government depends on internal resources.
