Expressing his disappointment with the political leadership, Former King Gyanendra Shah has said the country is weakening day by day.
In his New Year greetings to the people on the eve of 2073 BS, the deposed King remarked that the Nepali language, religion, culture, history and civilisation are under attack and now the question has come to the fore whether the monuments inherited from our ancestors could be handed down to the descendents.
“The modus operandi of the ruling administration to abuse state mechanism for vested interests has made Nepal feeble,” ex-King wrote in his New Year message. “The concept pertaining to the nation has weakened. At this time when regional and global politics is entering into a new phase, the discord between the thirsts of wolfish leadership has proven to be too costly for the nation.”
“It is necessary to balance South Asia’s geo-political sensitiveness and power under the current circumstances,” he added.
“Now everyone has understood where we were, where we are now, where the country is heading, and mood of the society, what should be our common and right roadmap, who have made what kind of sacrifices, who possesses what value and appreciation,” said Gyanendra in his New Year message.
The former king has indicated that he might become active. He said the time has come to work together with the people inspired by the original existence of Nepali spirit and national sovereignty.
“Let’s internalise that our language, history, religion and cultures are the fundamentals of our country, look at the foreign counties only after recognising our nation and understand others’ religion after understanding out our own religion,” said Gyanendra in his message.
