Dry landslides have posed threat to 140 households at Beteni VDC-6 and 7 in the district.
The landslips, which intensified after the April 25 earthquake, have also posed risk to local Kalika Secondary School, where around 260 students are studying.
Local residents said soil and stones are continuously falling from the cliff. They said they are worried that the village may be swept away due to the landslides. Chairman of Kalika Secondary School Management Committee Bishnu Thapa Magar said the landslides will be massive if the situation continues.
Locals said Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipendra Shah and other officials from the District Administration Office (DAO) have already inspected the landslide-affected area.
Some victims whose farmlands were buried by the landslides also filed applications at the DAO demanding relief. However, landslide-hit families have not received any help from the local administration.
Villagers said large boulders are likely to block the Molung river, leading to a great disaster, during monsoon. Local residents at Chyanam VDC-9 are also in fear due to the landslides. Gopal Katwal of Chaynam said if the river is blocked by the large boulders, it will cause devastation in the region.
Though no any way of controlling the landslides has been identified, stakeholders said that local authorities should plan for minimising damage in case a disaster occurs.
