UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal has said that his party is ready to act as a bridge between Madhes and government.

Speaking at a press conference to inform about the UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee meeting, Dahal said a consensus would be sought on the eight state federal setup proposed by his party.

“The demands raised by the currently agitating parties in Madhes are related to our party. We are the reason behind those demands,” Dahal said “The Madhes issue should be resolved as an internal matter. We are the initiator and catalyst of those issues.” 

Dahal said that a phase of capitalist and pro-people revolution had finished after the promulgation of new constitution. He underlined the need to move ahead by considering the constitution as a progressive document.

Talking about Baburam Bhattrai’s exit from UCPN (Maoist), Dahal said that Bhattarai’s abandonment was harmful to the nation, people, party and Bhattarai himself. Dahal also opined that the border obstructions should be taken as opportunity and challenge.
