The Home Ministry on Thursday appointed Ram Krishna Subedi as new Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kathmandu district. He was recently transferred from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to Home Ministry.
His predecessor Ek Narayan Aryal has been transferred as CDO of Morang district.
Aryal had been the Chief of Kathmandu District for past one year. Ram Krishna Subedi, joint-secretary at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has replaced Aryal.
The transfer of Aryal comes on the heels of series of raids conducted by police administration under District Administration Office's supervision including Dugar Food Land in Jadibuti, Bhaktapur.
The police had seized five trucks of cooking oil of various brands and case has been filed under black marketing.
Sources said Aryal had come under immense pressure from political and bureaucratic circle following the raid in Dugar Company.
The source said prime accused Kishanlal Dugar, the group’s proprietor and his son Naresh Dugar, who is believed to be in hiding in India, has been using their political clout to influence the investigation.
Following the blockade imposed by India and protests in Tarai, Aryal had initiated series of raids in petrol pumps that were found tampering the meter. Also, many black marketers selling fuel in hiked prices were also arrested.
Spokesperson of MoHA Laxmi Dhakal said the transfer is a routine process. He did not comment further.
