Indian Embassy has released a statement stating that its Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB) did not shoot any Nepali citizen in border firing incident in Sunsari.
Indian Embassy has released a statement stating that its Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB) did not shoot any Nepali citizen in border firing incident in Sunsari.
“A patrol team of SSB came across a few smugglers inside the Indian territory across the Sunsari district of Nepal,” a press release issued by Embassy said, “ When challenged, smugglers and their accomplices attacked the patrol team and injured one constable. SSB personnel fired in the air in self-defence, following which the smugglers dispersed.”
The embassy also said Nepali media reports of four individual injured by the shooting of SSB personnel were inaccurate.
The statement maintains that the shooting occurred on the Indian territory and no Nepali citizens were injured.
Four Nepali citizens—Ashok Yadav, Naresh Yadav, Manoj Yadav and Saroj Yadav—were injured when SSB opened fire at Bhantabari in Sunsari early this morning.
The shooting was also acknowledged by SSB Satana Post incharge Ranbir Singh through a telephone conversation with Sunsari police chief Sanjaya Raj Sharma and vowed to take action against the personnel involved in the shooting.
