A youth activist group “project nationalism group” of St. Xaviers College under the banner “our country and nationality: our concerns” initiated an awareness campaign to send a positive message for solidarity among Nepali with diverse backgrounds.
Remarking the movement as not a protest but an awareness campaign, student representative from St. Xavier’s social department, Basudev Regmi, said, “We are not following the current trend of protest and hashtag-activism rather we are focused to promote the sense of nationality and brotherhood.”
The human chain was followed by a peaceful rally around the Maitighar vicinity where students with their mouth wrapped in white straps raised flags and sang patriotic songs.
According to the student representatives, today’s event would conclude after a lantern rally only to be followed by more positive movements in the future. The lantern symbolises hope in their quest for a true patriot.
