A joint meeting of parties—Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist)—convened Constituent Assembly premises on Wednesday evening made an appeal in writing, inviting the disgruntled parties to resolve their issues through dialogue.
But they have insisted that the constitution drafting process won't be stopped.
Earlier, the agitating parties turned down the appeal for talks made by Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on behalf of the government.
They have concluded that the demands of the agitating parties can be met through the current constitution drafting process.
Speaking to the journalists after the meeting, CPN-UML leader Jhalanath Khanal said that the three parties are ready for talks but that they would not stop the current process by bowing to any national or international forces.
Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel said that the disgruntled parties have a final opportunity to get their demands addressed by coming to negotiating table. He insisted that the process won't at all.
Nearly a month-long protests and strikes by Tharus and Madhesis have affected lives in the south of the country. Nearly 33 people, including protesters and security personnel have died during clashes.
