Balmikinagar
Local people at Kudiya VDC in Nawalparasi staged demonstrations at Balmikinagar, India, to protest the alleged murder of a Nepali national by Indian forest officials.

The protesters claimed that the Indian officials detained Babunanda Bin and beat him to death two days ago. They demanded action against the guilty and provide compensation to the victim’s family.

According to the victim’s relatives, Bin, a resident of Kudiya-9, was detained as he went to a forest area in Bihar to catch fish in the Narayani river. They said Ranger Sunil Kumar Sinha and forest guard Gorakh Ram nabbed the victim suspecting that he went to the area to fell trees. Rajaram, the victim’s father, said Babunanda’s arm and leg were fractured due to beating.

The Indian authorities called the victim’s relatives to receive the body on Wednesday after carrying out post-mortem at Bagaha. But the bereaved relatives refused to receive the body.
