Baletaksar declared as model village
Recognising the town's contribution to free itself from open defecation, household smoke, plastic bags and illiteracy, Baletaksar has been declared a 'model VDC' in the country.

Chief Secretary Lilamani Poudel and CPN-UML leader Pradip Gyawali announced the VDC as a model village amid a programme in the district on Wednesday.
VDC secretary Tika Bahadur KC said all of the 1050 houses have toilets installed. Likewise, all 1028 children aged five to 14 have been enrolled in schools and the literacy rate stands at 97 percent. All 76 children below two years of age have been immunised, he said, adding that improved ovens have been installed in 865 households, with rest using LPG .
Local Development Officer Hari Prasad Gyawali said the VDC has been declared a model village for achieving the set standards. Addressing the programme, Poudel urged locals to maintain their achievements since it will improve human health, the environment and the social culture. Both Poudel and Pradip hail from the VDC.
