A 19-year-old boy of Siddhakumakh Rural Municipality has been arrested on the charge of raping a 15-year-old girl in Salyan.

According to Inspector Baburam Basnet, information officer of the District Police Office, the perpetrator committed the crime while returning home from a wedding function on March 13.

Since the victim’s family members went to India in search of employment, she stayed in her aunt’s house. The police arrested him after her elder brother returned from India and filed a complaint.

The accused has been taken under police custody and further investigation is underway, Basnet said.
