Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 2,684 with one more death; national tally reaches 273,760 with 94 new infections

The Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday said that deaths of an additional 619 people were responsible for Covid-19 infections. With this, the death toll from coronavirus infections in the country has reached 2,684.
“We found that data of people who died at home due to coronavirus infection were not included in the ministry’s records but were recorded in the Covid-19 Crisis Management Center’s system,” Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson for the Health Ministry, told the Post. “We formed a committee to study the differences in the data and have made adjustments as per its suggestions.”
Those people died before November at their homes and their bodies were managed by the Army, according to Gautam.
The country also recorded 94 new cases on Wednesday.
The overall infection tally has reached 273,760 with 937 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 270,139 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 71 in the past 24 hours.
As of Wednesday, 2,150,225 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 3,692 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
Nepal had reported four Covid-19 fatalities and 110 new infections on Tuesday. Similarly, 125 new infections were recorded on Monday while the country had reported 80 new cases on Sunday.
