Two hundred and fifty new cases takes Nepal’s Covid-19 tally to 4,614

The number of Covid-19 cases in the country climbed to 4,614 on Thursday after 250 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
“Tests at labs across the country confirmed positive results in 57 people from Rautahat, 48 from Dailekh, 29 from Rupandehi, 18 from Bajura, 14 from Rolpa and 13 from Banke. Similarly, nine individuals from Saptari, eight from Dang, seven each from Bara, Dhading, Surkhet and Kailali, six from Nawalparasi (West), four each from Mahottari and Pyuthan, three each from Sunsari and Jhapa and two cases each from Sarlahi, Kapilvastu and Bajhang also tested positive for the virus,” said spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam during a regular press briefing by the Health Ministry.
The ministry had confirmed 279 new cases on Wednesday, 323 new cases and 15th death were confirmed on Tuesday while on Monday, Nepal confirmed its 14th Covid-19 death and 314 new cases. There were 213 new infections confirmed on Sunday. Likewise, 323 new infections and two deaths were confirmed on Saturday and one death and 201 new cases were reported on Wednesday.
According to the ministry, people from 72 districts have now contracted the coronavirus. Manang, Mustang, Okhaldhunga, Rasuwa and Rukum (West) have not witnessed any cases so far.
Kapilvastu has so far reported 619 cases, the highest for a district, followed by Rautahat with 536 cases while Dailekh has reported 441 cases.
Similarly, 419 cases have been reported in Sarlahi; Banke has recorded 296, Rupandehi has recorded 170 cases and Dhanusa has so far reported 164 cases.
“So far, 115,930 polymerase chain reaction tests and 178,143 rapid diagnostic tests have been carried out across the country,” said Gautam.
According to Gautam, 861 people—774 male and 87 females—have been discharged from various hospitals after recovering with 187 people discharged in the last 24 hours.
