Nepal lose to Sri Lanka ‘A’

Nepal’s men’s cricket team suffered a six-wicket defeat to Sri Lanka ‘A’ in their practice tour to the South Asian island nation on Tuesday.
In the first of the three T20s with Sri Lanka ‘A’ played at the ground of Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation, Nepal won the toss and elected to bat first.
Backed by excellent knocks by the two brothers—Aasif Sheikh (61 runs) and Aarif Sheikh (42 runs)—the Rhinos posted 185/5 in the allocated 20 overs. Kushal Bhurtel, Rohit Kumar Paudel and Dipendra Singh Airee contributed 25, 31 and 16 runs, respectively.
In turn, Sri Lanka ‘A’ chased the target with 12 balls to spare. Sahan Arachchige hit the last ball of the 18th over, which was bowled by Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, for a six to end the match at 189/4.
Udara was the hero for Sri Lanka as he smashed 73 off 42 before departing as the fourth wicket. When he departed, Sri Lanka needed 13 off 22.
Nepal will play the second and third T20s against Sri Lanka ‘A’ at the ground of Colts Cricket Club on January 22 and 24.
