Because of these daily burdens, a woman’s identity, wishes and desires often have to take a backseat—so how does self-love happen in such circumstances?

Virangana Comics’ inaugural issue, launched at Alliance Française, Pulchowk, on Friday, explores, examines and celebrates the topic of ‘self love’ through a series of eight female Nepali artists’ works. 

Virangana, a platform for Nepali comic artists, was conceived with the idea of producing a series of anthologies that would collate work from different artists on specific themes, each open to the personal interpretation of the participating artists.

The result is a mix of unique insights, visual styles and narratives expressed through the comic book medium, all rooted in a diversity of perspectives and experiences.
