The India-Nepal Khadi Fashion Event took place at India House in Lainchaur, on Friday. The show was part of the five-day long India-Nepal Folk Crafts Festival which showcased designs and crafts from 50 artists from India and 30 artists from Nepal. 

The fashion show was themed ‘redefining folk crafts towards sustainable development’ and  featured eco-friendly products, showcased by noted Nepali and Indian models, in the likes former Miss Nepals Asmi Shrestha and Evana Manandhar, and Indian models Sana Dua, Sonalika Sahay, and Amanpreet Wahi, among others.  

The five-day fest featured over 80 thematic pavilions with a focus on folk crafts from both the countries, live demonstration by craft-persons, design workshops, buyer-seller meets, and food stalls, among others. The event also saw an exhibition of handicraft products and handmade Khadi designs. 

“Cross-cultural festivals are an ideal opportunities for effective tie-up and comprehensive collaboration between Nepal and India for a larger cooperation in the field of arts and crafts, thus providing a platform to the artisans to exchange ideas and explore trade collaborations between the two countries,” said organisers, South Asia Foundation (SAF), in a press release. 

The festival was organised with support from Embassy of India, Kathmandu, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, Council of Handicrafts Development Corporation, and BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation.
