Like the first edition, the second episode also featured an extensive audition that saw aspiring Roadies put to task by the judges over two gruelling rounds.
MTV Roadies, which has proven to be one of the biggest reality shows in South Asia, with thousands of contestant and audiences, is a show often associated with the youth and a reflection of the spirit of adventure. In the show, a group of contestants travel to different destinations and participate in various tasks that challenge their physical and mental strength. During the course of the journey, there are vote outs, vote ins, eliminations and game changing twists. Eventually, the contestant who manages to survive vote outs and succeeds in the final task is chosen as the winner.
Envisioned in the same format, Himalaya Roadies travelled to five different cities—Kathmandu, Pokhara, Dharan, Chitwan and Butwal—where approximately 10,000 aspiring contestants were vetted by judges rapper—Lahure (Asish Rana), actor Deeya Maskey and media personality Raymon Das Shrestha.
Following a series of gruelling tests, three contestants—Bikas Thapa, Rupam Mishra and Sonagkita Adhikari—were selected to carry on into the ‘Journey Round’ of the series from Butwal. After five rounds of audition episodes, the series will then move into the journey leg, where selected roadies will travel to different destinations spanning the mountains to the Tarai, competing in various tasks and challenges.
A one-of-a-kind series for the Nepali TV audience, Himalaya Roadies has attracted wide-spread praise—particularly for the host singer Nattu and the show’s production value—from fans since its launch last week. The first episode which was uploaded onto the video sharing site YouTube has amassed 324,000 views in a week.
Himalaya Roadies airs every Monday at 8 pm on Himalaya TV.
