Cross-cultural exchange through the arts
A joint art exhibition featuring the works of artists from Nepal and Bangladesh is currently on at Nepal Art Council in the Capital. A joint art exhibition featuring the works of artists from Nepal and Bangladesh is currently on at Nepal Art Council in the Capital. The exhibit features works by 16 Nepali and 10 Bangladeshi artists. The five-day long art exhibit was inaugurated by the chancellor of Nepal Fine Arts Academy, Ragini Upadhyay, and the ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, Mashfee Binte Shams.
Speaking about the exhibit, Bangladeshi artist Ilham Hak Khuku said, “This cross-cultural collaboration is to strengthen the relationship between the two countries and in turn help facilitate cultural and artistic exchange.” Another artist, Nasima Kueni, added, “The exhibit has helped bring artists from two different cultures together and create a close tie with each other. It has been a great learning experience.” Ambassador Shams also expressed her delight about the exhibit and congratulated the artists during the event.
Similarly, artist Nagendra Prasad Poudel talked about the importance of art exhibit and its effect in art scene. He said, “Art exhibitions really are what keep arts and crafts alive. This exhibition aims not only for a holistic artistic exchange between the two countries but also to facilitate the artists to seek for ideas and opportunities.”
The exhibit will run till May 26.
