Jhoraha Theatre Group turns one

The two-day long Gauma Sahitya Kala Utsav, a literary festival organised by Jhoraha Theatre Group, concluded on Saturday in Morang. The literary fest marked the first anniversary of the theatre group’s establishment. Jhoraha Theatre Group has been organising a poetry series, Gauma Kabita, every month, in an attempt to preserve and promote literature at the grassroots level.
The first day of the festival saw a poetry recital, featuring a total of 12 poets including Madan Puraskar-winner Krishna Darabasi, Manu Manjil, Yam Thulung, and Sima Aabas, among others.
Speaking about the fest, coordinator of the event, Ramesh Chandra Adhikari said, “As this is our first anniversary, we started our show with poetry recitation by 12 poets, one poem for each month.” The first day of the fest also saw a Ghazal recitation programme.
The fest also awarded artists such as Dhanpati Luitel, Leknath Neupane, Mitra Prasad Bhattarai, Devi Prasad Dungana and Yadav Luitel in recognition of their contribution towards Nepali art and literature.
The second day of the fest saw street poems, poetry discussions and other various poetry events.
