Pokhara, the one-time hotspot of theatre activities, has recently been struggling with the lack of any decent theatre house to stage plays. The initiative carried out by Youth Creation Theatre to construct a new theatre house is now expected to bring about a theatrical revival in Pokhara. The house, with a capacity to accomodate about 200 audiences, is slated to commence operation from mid January.
Speaking to the Post, chairperson of the Youth Creation Theatre, Kapil Sharma said, “As the city struggled with the lack of adequate theatre house, we sought for an alternative and started to collect fund for it through social media. We have already collected six lakhs rupees and have spent around nine lakhs.”
The new hall will be well-equipped with modern lightings and sound filters, informed Sharma.
Once the theatre house gets ready, the team plans to stage at least six plays in a year and also hopes that the hall will be able to revive the theatre scene of Pokhara.
