The exhibit was inaugurated by artist Gehendra Man Amatya, on Thursday.
The collection, as its title suggests, features an array of the artist’s impressions of the various sites along Bagmati. The artist makes his affinity with the river clear in his artist’s statement, “The river Bagmati holds a special significance in Nepal’s religious and social imagination. While I roamed around the edges of the river, I feel like I transcend the selfish, modern world, and to be in the river’s company is a wonderful experience. These journeys continually refresh me and inspire me to come up with more artworks.”
The exhibition features a total of 60 paintings by the artist-which he created from different spots on Bagmati’s riverbanks. According to the artist Nepali, it took about half a year to complete his endeavour.
Nepali holds a BFA Diploma from the Fine Art College, Tribhuvan University and has been working as an illustrator for books and magazines. After the exhibition, the paintings will be up for sale-for prices up to Rs 8,000. The exhibit will run through September 2.
