Sarwanam Theatre’s production, a play titled Mukti, has been staged at Theatretage Am See, in Friedrichshafen, Germany, during the ongoing 32nd International Theatre Festival.
The play pivots around the violence that women have to endure in the Nepali society. The play was staged entirely in pantomimes and no dialogues were delivered.
“The accolades the play received showcases that Nepali theatre is prospering…With the staging of this particular play, Nepali theatre has presented itself humbly to the world,” said writer/director Ashesh Malla.
The play, which was produced after Sarwanam’s intense one-month workshop, shows the variety of violence women have to suffer through metaphors.
The play has been written and directed by veteran director Ashesh Malla and features actors Shyam Khadka, Deepesh Paudel, Sadhana Bhandari and Avineet Malla.
