The Nepal chapter of the International Watercolor Society is currently hosting a group exhibition displaying the artworks of 13 Nepali artists at the Newa Chhen Art Gallery in Patan, Lalitpur.The Nepal chapter of the International Watercolor Society is currently hosting a group exhibition displaying the artworks of 13 Nepali artists at the Newa Chhen Art Gallery in Patan, Lalitpur. The exhibition which opened its doors on Saturday is exhibiting over two dozen paintings of artists Bhim Shrestha, Devendra Thumkeli, Lal Kaji Lama among others.
This is International Watercolor Society-Nepal’s first group exhibition. Speaking about the show,
NB Gurung, the president of the
society said, “This exhibition
is an attempt to bring together
different artists using the
watercolour medium in Nepal. Hopefully this becomes a stepping stone towards taking Nepali
watercolour paintings into the
international arena.” The society is also currently working towards
hosting an international exhibition and workshops with artists from 30 different countries.
Artist Keshav Raj Khanal, whose artworks are featured at the show, believes that the group exhibition brings out different facets of the Nepali society, lifestyle, culture and landscapes through vivid colours. “This exhibition also is a good
display of the calibre of contemporary artists working in the medium today,” he added.
The show is slated to continue until March 3.
