International Jazz Day at KJC

The International Jazz Day is an event that celebrates and promotes peace through jazz music. It was started in November 2011 by legendary jazz pianist and chairman of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, Herbie Hancock, and UNESCO Director General, Irina Bokova. The event is celebrated to raise awareness of the virtues of jazz as an educational tool and a force of positive social transformation.
KJC is a music institute situated in Jhamsikhel that promotes jazz music and aims to build intercultural dialogue between jazz and Nepali folk music. Through this concert, the institute aims to build a platform for aspiring jazz musicians. The first International Jazz Day was held on July 30, 2012 at KJC.
