They have threatened to obstruct the House business from next week if the government still delays the registration. The regional parties which supported the election of Pushpa Kamal Dahal as the prime minister three months ago on the condition that the government addresses their concerns said the Cabinet had been deferring the registration on various pretexts.
Taking special time from the Speaker before boycotting the House, Ashok Rai, senior leader of the Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal, said the government had not fully addressed any of the three agreements reached before the PM’s election.
The demands are declaring those killed during the Madhes agitation as martyrs, providing relief to those affected and compensation for the injured, and amendment to the constitution to address the concerns including revision to the provincial boundaries.
“The government doesn’t seem sincere about addressing our concerns. We will take stern measures if the constitution amendment bill is not registered by November 15,” said Rai.
