Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) made it to the semi-finals of the Pokhar Cup football tournament with a 1-0 win over Three Star Club on Monday.
The 61st minute goal from Bimal Rana separated the two teams. Rana was in right position to slam home a freekick from Santosh Lama. Three Star paid dearly for their poor finishing, especially in the first half where they wasted three scoring opportunities.
Army will play against the winners of Tuesday’s match between Dharan-XI and FAO Academy of Orissa, India. It was the Army Club’s third win over the Lalitpur-based outfits after defeating them in the Aaha Gold Cup and Simara Gold Cup.
Army coach Megh Raj KC praised his boys for their fightback after sustaining pressure in the first half. “We somehow managed to stay in the game in the first half before improving on our game later,” said KC.
“We failed to keep our momentum in the second half and they were able to score,” said Three Star coach Rajendra Tamang.
