A 30-year-old man allegedly killed his 25-year-old wife in Itahari on Monday evening.
Police said that Suman Dahal, originally from Aiselukharka Rural Municipality-1 in Khotang and living in Itahari Sub-metropolitan city-12, struck his wife, Anisha Bhattarai, on the head with a wooden bat.
Severely injured, Bhattarai was taken to Birat Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar with police assistance, but she died at 9:10 pm during treatment, said DSP Subash Hamal of Itahari police station.
Dahal has been taken into police custody.
