A 72-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Tumlingtar in ward 9 of Khandbari Municipality on Sunday.

According to police, the deceased, Min Bahadur Kumal, was reportedly strangled by two unidentified individuals while he was sleeping at home. His wife informed the police that the attackers entered the house around 12:30am.

Neighbours rushed to the house after the intrusion but found Kumal already dead, police said.

Police Inspector Ram Kumar Lamichhane said the death appears suspicious, and search operations are underway at checkpoints to find the suspects.

Police said they will also deploy a trained sniffer dog to assist in the investigation. Kumal belonged to an ordinary family and lived with his wife.
