Rishikesh Pokharel of CPN-UML has been elected to the lower house from Morang-2 defeating Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala.
As per the final results, Pokharel defeated Koirala by a margin of 1,208 as he got 33,148 votes against his close competitor who bagged 31,940 votes.
Thagendra Prasad Neupane of the Rastriya Swatantra Party received 4,904 votes.
Pokharel was elected a member of the second constituent assembly from the same constituency. He, however, was defeated by Congress’ Minendra Rijal in the 2017 polls.
