Udayapur

Police have arrested two people in connection to the death of a schoolgirl at Buddhachauki in Belka Municipality of Udayapur district on Tuesday.

The body of the 15-year-old girl, who had left home at 4am for her school to attend extra classes in preparation for the upcoming Secondary Education Exam, was found along the banks of a Jasodha River.

Locals discovered the body of the victim around 7am and informed the Rampur Area Police.

According to SP Subas Chandra Bohora, 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl of Belka Municipality-3 have been taken into custody in suspicion of murder of the girl. The accused are siblings, said police.

The police are yet to ascertain the reason behind committing the crime.

A family member of the deceased said that the girl would regularly leave home early in the morning to attend SEE preparation classes at Koshi Janata Secondary School.

SP Bohora informed that a detailed investigation is underway.

“We are coordinating with Provincial and Federal police offices and will know more about the incident only after a detailed investigation into the case,” said Bohora.

Bharat Ghimire, a local, said that the incident site is around 700 metres from the school.

Meanwhile, locals and school students organised protests at Rampur Bazaar on Tuesday demanding the authorities arrest and take action against the culprits.
