The curfew order imposed across 10 local units of Sunsari will remain in force throughout Thursday, as the district administration continues efforts to resolve a standoff with the family of the man killed in the Dewanganj violence.

The District Administration Office said the curfew, which came into effect from 9pm on Tuesday, would remain in place for the entire day.

Officials said the security situation has gradually improved, but the restrictions have been extended because authorities have yet to reach an agreement with the victim's family.

According to security sources, the district administration is scheduled to hold further talks with the family at 4pm on Thursday. The body of the deceased remains at a hospital morgue, with no effective coordination reached between the administration and the family in the five days since the incident.

The family members said they will not accept the body until their demands are addressed. They have demanded that the government declares the deceased a martyr, provides adequate compensation and takes legal action against those responsible for the violence.

Meanwhile, the district administration has urged residents to comply fully with the curfew order, avoid spreading or believing rumours, and cooperate with authorities to maintain peace and security.
