Preparations are underway to appoint Sudan Gurung as home minister in the government led by Balendra Shah, according to a source close to Shah.
The source added that Gurung’s name has been finalised for the home ministry.
Three Rastriya Swatantra Party leaders had staked a claim to the post. Party vice-chair DP Aryal, Sunil Lamsal and Gurung had claimed the position.
Gurung, who rose to prominence during the September 8-9 Gen Z movement, was elected from Gorkha-2 under the first-past-the-post system.
