Aashish Gajurel of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected to the House of Representatives from Sindhuli-2.
Gajurel secured 17,940 votes to defeat his nearest rival, Lekh Nath Dahal of the Nepali Communist Party, who received 14,644 votes.
Manoj Jung Thapa of the CPN-UML garnered 11,079 votes, while Nepali Congress candidate Sushila Thing received 6,648 votes.
Gajurel had resigned as executive director of the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Board (NITDB) to contest the House of Representatives election.
